INTRODUCTION
The ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership is designed specifically for first line managers to help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to become an effective Leader to achieve operational goals.


Who will the course benefit?
The Level 3 Certificate is for existing first line managers and aspiring middle managers who recognise the importance of Leadership in ensuring their own future success and the future success of their organisations and who are in a position to practise the leadership role.

The Main purpose of this qualification is to help individuals acquire the skills and knowledge to put their Leadership potential into practise.

Course Content

The content of the course is on; The Leadership Jouney, and consists of:

  • Leadership Journey, Planning and Review.
  • Action Learning for Leadership
  • Participation in an action learning set to plan and support the development of leadership practise
  • Learning Outcomes – on completion the candidate should be able to Recognise own leadership strengths and limitations
  • Identify and plan appropriate actions to develop their leadership capacity
  • Identify sources of help and support
  • Set realistic time scales for leadership development

Understand how to recognise and confirm improvements in own leadership
Knowledge, Understanding and Skills

  • Personal strengths and limitations analysis – building on the assessment undertaken for Unit L1
  • Importance of a systematic approach to developing effective leadership skills
  • Setting objectives for leadership development and their application to work and other contexts
  • Techniques for developing personal leadership capacity
  • Sources of information, help and support for leadership development, including theorists, tutors, practising/model leaders, colleagues
  • How to overcome blockages and obstacles to leadership development
  • Review and monitoring techniques
  • Gaining feedback from others on own leadership performance

Plus at least 3 hours of one-to-one tutorial support
