| I start the course with an overview of what NLP is and how you can use these skills to literally transform your life. Research with Practitioner Graduates shows that they are achieving what an academic psychologist would call ‘transformative learning’, or what Abraham Maslow called ‘self-authoring’. In plain English, you become significantly more skilled at creating the quality of your own day-to-day reality.
The crucial ingredients it does not provide are the skilled NLP tutors to give you individual guidance while doing the learning exercises, nor, other students to do the exercises with. You can, of course, find a couple of interested friends, and do the exercises with them. I strongly recommend that experiential learning is the only way to actually learn these skills. It’s like learning to ride a bike – you have to get on the bike and learn by experience and the only way to get the skills ‘in the muscle’.
If you go down the path of doing it with friends, you get the full benefit of actually doing the exercises. If you do it this way, with exercises, each of the 8 DVD’s will take about 90 minutes to complete – ideal for a home-made weekly evening class. If you just watch each DVD, the average duration is probably around 60 minutes. You might want to share costs with friends. Ideally you want to do each exercise in groups of three people. If it is a two person exercise, make the third person the observer/coach.
Another bonus of the DVD set is that you can lend it to friends. Handy when you get into those ‘What is NLP?’ conversations. If you are a teacher, trainer or manager, you may want to show selected highlights to your learners.
