Aims
To enable the delegate to work towards becoming an
advanced practitioner in reflective, evidence-based CBT for
complex mental health problems within their area of practice
with users/ clients and carers.
Who it is for
Individuals involved in working with people who have complex
issues, who would like to develop their use of the CBT
approach within their practice with clients/users and gain
academic credit for their studies.
Between taught sessions students will be expected to complete
homework, including excercises, and reflect on their findings
e.g., they will monitor the activities they do which give them
pleasure and a sense of achievement and notice their effect on
their mood or complete a mood diary. They will be expected
to complete a portfolio both as a formative and assessment.
Eligibility
They will have to demonstrate successful completion of either
the 12 day Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Training or its

mental health profession and further experience in using CBT
within their practice.
The delegates will have to also demonstrate the academic
ability to study at either diploma or degree level or
postgraduate level.
Course Structure
Similar to the Stage 2 course, the modules will be taught with a
mixture of lectures, experiential work, self directed study, role play, seminars, video and audio work.
It will include supervision and practice as an integral part
of the educational process - each module will include
clinical CBT supervision, taught sessions and facilitated role
play and practice.
Students are required at this stage to complete assessed
professional practice in CBT in their place of work (or source
suitable access to clients).
Supervision will be provided during Stage 2 - this will be
12 hours and for Stage 3 there will be a minimum of 9 hours.
The level of this will be sufficient for you to complete your
qualification with us. Supervision will also be essential to
completing the case studies that will form part of your self
directed study, as above it is something that will be completed
in your work place or relevant source.
On-line support and discussion will be facilitated throughout
the course and students will have access to the course tutor to manage any clinical CBT questions that may emerge in practice,
in additional to their workplace mentor.
