Introduction
MCBT (Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is being offered by many UK Universities at Degree and Masters level, and is fast becoming an integral part of standard CBT Practice. Mindfulness is also included as a key component of many Stress Reduction programmes.
Aims
This one-day course will introduce the key principles of Mindfulness in a CBT setting with the emphasis on providing the opportunity to actually practice and explore Mindfulness in a workshop environment.
There will also be the opportunity to discuss your experience of Mindfulness with others as well as the implications of using Mindfulness in a therapeutic setting.
Who it is for
This one-day course is designed for anyone working in a therapeutic or support setting who wishes to deepen their understanding of Mindfulness through personal experience and incorporate Mindfulness when offering CBT or Stress Reduction to clients or patients
Course Structure
- An overview of Mindfulness in the context of CBT and associated therapies.
- Experiencing a range of guided Mindfulness Practices for periods of 20–30 minutes with an opportunity for discussion.
- Working through a number of Mindfulness and CBT Self-Assessment questionnaires, scoring and analysing the results and discussing the use of these questionnaires with clients and patients.
- Applications of Mindfulness and CBT in a Therapeutic or Client support setting.
- The course will be supported by a wide range of handouts, a guided Mindfulness CD, extensive reading and resource materials, ongoing
access to a CBT and Mindfulness Discussion Forum and other online resources.
Outcomes
Course attendees will:
- Personally experience the key benefits and effects of various Mindfulness practices,
- Reflect in some depth on the implications of taking up a personal Mindfulness Practice
- Reflect on how to introduce Mindfulness whe working with patients and clients
